To the east of the Mljet Island in the center of the great Saplunara Bay, there lies a beautiful sandy beach lined by dense pine forests, which can be strictly divided into 2 beach sections - the large and the small beaches of Saplunara. The larger beach area is located in the northern area of the bay, while the smaller one lies to the east of the bay. In the shallow bay, the water can easily reach temperatures of 25-30 degrees in the summer. Due to the beach's intact nature and clean water, it has been awarded the “Blue Flag”. Young children and non-swimmers enjoy the gently sloping shores. If you want to swim a few laps, you must go a bit further out into the sea. If you do not want to lounge directly on the shore, you can search for a shady spot in the pine forest. Parasols and lounge chairs can be rented, however. On the beach there is not only a beach café with refreshments and snacks, but also a court for beach volleyball, a portable toilet and a small parking lot. If you desire a bit more variety, it is advisable to pack all of your own leisure and sports equipment, as there are no facilities on the beach.
