Rock Climbing

With its mountainous hinterland, deep canyons and karst mountains, Croatia is a paradise for climbers. Arguably the most famous climbing destination is the Paklenica National Park, which is demanding even to experienced climbers. Especially the Vela Draga and Anika kuk, a particularly dramatic 350-meter-high cliff, offers rock climbers numerous challenges. In other parts of the country climbing paradises are just waiting to be discovered, such as in Istria, where more than 700 mainly single-track trails provide a variety of options for beginners as well as professionals. South of Rijeka in the Kvarner region is a small but nice climbing area with routes up to 185-meters long and multi-laned. Central Dalmatia is also a hotspot for sporty climbers. Near Omis expect to find routes up to 300 meters long and there are about 800 mostly single-track routes that can be found on the holiday islands of, for example, Hvar, Brac and Vis.
