Tired of the sun, the sea and the beach? Krk Island provides visitors with a wonderful contrast to the typical holiday program: the Biserujka Cave. Located in a sinkhole and cave rich area in the sparsely populated northeast of the island, this legendary cave is especially charming with its bright colors and the bizarre beauty of its many stalactites, stalagmites, galleries and halls. If you take a very close look, in the glow of romantic lighting, you will discover the rare, tiny and almost transparent creatures that are unique in this world to only this cave system. The high humidity of 95 percent and the relatively constant temperatures of around 15 degrees provide them with optimal growing conditions - and provide visitors, especially on hot days, a welcoming refreshment. By the way: Literally translated, the cave's name means treasure. Its name comes from a legend that exists to this day about a smuggler's lost treasure. If you are lucky, you might just be the one to discover it on a tour through this magical, enchanting underground system.

There is also a cave channel known under the name of Vitezic which is up to 13 meters below the surface and is comparatively small. Its size does not take away from its beauty and attractiveness, making it a popular destination in the Kvarner Bay for many tourists, especially during the summer months peak season. This tourist pearl, however, is not barrier-free. Children can easily participate in the guided tours that take place every quarter of an hour - and its even free for children 5 and under. Older children up to 12 years old pay an entry fee of 15 Kuna and all other guests pay 25 Kuna. The Biserujka Cave is open between April and October from 10 AM to 3 PM and in the months of July and August, from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Intrigued? You can find the well-signposted cave about 300 meters southwest of Rudine, which is easily accessible via Rasopasno, Tribulje and Cizici. There are sufficient enough parking spaces and the cave entrance lies a few meters away and is hiding in a house. Those who do not want to immediately get back in the car after an exciting adventure underground should get to know the natural attractions of the region here by taking a short walk on a small sightseeing trail leading between the cave and the nearby Slivanjska Bay.
