Njivice

In the northwest region of the island of Krk in the Kvarner bay, there is the town of Njivice with 1,100 inhabitants that administratively belongs to the northern municipality of Omisalj. The town of Njivice has not yet been known as a holiday destination for too long now. It was not until around 1930 when the fishing village first opened up to tourism. The transition of the town into a resort happened, however, quite quickly making Njivice today one of the most popular tourist resorts on the island of Krk. Njivice offers a smorgasbord of things to do for boaters, swimmers and active vacationers who want to explore the wooded hiking and cycling trails in the 18,000 m² big Dubec Natural Park or observe the underwater world while snorkeling.

Sacred architecture can be admired in structures such as the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the sacristy there is an altarpiece from the earlier church Nativity of Mary, on whose foundations the present church was built in 1905.

The gastronomic center has formed around the port. There are numerous restaurants and bars, where visitors can taste the local cuisine. Later at night, you can linger in the cozy taverns or find entertainment in the nightlife of the larger island towns, such as in Malinska and Krk. In summer, the city hosts, inter alia, the Film Festival and Techno Festival to the delight of all guests.
