About Zaton
Zaton is a small resort in the Zaton Bay in the Zadar Channel, about 13 km north of the major coastal city of Zadar and only 4km from Nin. Tourists spend most of their stay in Zaton at the beach in mild Mediterranean temperatures. The sandy beach here is atypical of North Dalmatia and is one of the most beautiful in the region. Meanwhile, the resort itself has an interesting story, of which numerous ruins and remaining vestiges, which were built in part over 4,000 years ago, can tell you. Particularly worth seeing include the Tower of Kastelina built in the 16th century for defense against the Turks, and the Church of Saint Nicholas dating back to the 11th century. Zaton is the ideal vacation destination for all tranquility- seeking travelers. On the beaches you will find relaxation, while only needing a few minutes to get to the major cities and attractions in the region. Particularly attractive are the seaside towns of Zadar and Nin, the islands of Vir, Ugljan and Molat, the Paklenica National Park in the Velebit Mountains and the Kornati Natural Park located in the same-named archipelago south of Zadar.
