The park covers a hilly, heavily forested area which has been accessible to tourists for over one hundred years. At every twist and turn you will find mountain cabins for catering or also for a place to stay. The management of the natural park especially enforces the protection of endangered or rare species. Furthermore, the nature park is the source of many streams and rivers.
The heavily wooded forests and gently climbing elevations of the park are very inviting for hikers. The highest peak, Papuk, is 954 meters high while most of the other mountains are only between 400 and 600 meters. These circumstances make the area ideal for hiking with children. Since there is a dense network of huts and refreshment stations, keen walkers can easily plan a multi-day tour to walk around the entire park.
The Papuk Nature Park can be reached most easily by car from Zagreb via the A3 to Nova Gradisca. And from there via the federal highway 51 to Pozega or until Kutjevo. You can also travel from Zagreb with the public transport, but this can be tedious depending on the travel time.
