In the idyllic Sakarun Bay, 3 km southeast of Veli Rat, there is the 800 m long sandy beach of the same name, which is very popular with holidaymakers and locals. The shore slopes very gently into the sea, so that you can go very far into the sea without losing your footing – ideal especially for young bathers. The sandy beach with some pebble sections is unique on the island of Dugi Otok, which is otherwise characterized by steep rocky coasts.
The water has a Caribbean-like turquoise blue color and is crystal clear. Pine trees provide shade at the edge of the beach. Sakarun Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia, is recommended for families with small children, older people, singles and young people. It can be reached by car, bus, on foot or by tourist train from Bozava. Parking is available. On the beach you can play beach volleyball, dive or play picigin, among other things. A beach bar/café provides refreshments.
