The Bora wind \u2013 a natural phenomenon shapes landscape and climate<\/span><\/h3>

The infamous Bora wind<\/span><\/strong> plays a special role in the ecosystem of Northern Velebit. It sweeps across the mountains with great force, especially in the <\/span>Senj<\/span><\/strong> region . The wind originates in the interior (Lika) and descends at high speeds over the steep slopes to the coast \u2013 peak wind speeds of over 130 km\/h have been recorded on the peak near Zavi\u017ean.<\/span><\/p>

This cold, dry downdraft shapes not only the climate but also the vegetation. Between the towns of <\/span>Stinica<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>Jablanac<\/span><\/strong> lies a rare archaeological gem: the so-called <\/span>“Inscribed Stone” (Pisani kamen)<\/span><\/strong> .
