Pula - Histria Festival

An arena is made for entertainment. Despite people coming together in Roman times for another reason than those in the city of Pula in Istria, the amphitheater here today is used for the same purpose as back then: to entertain people! The year 1999 was the first time the internationally known Histria Festival was held in Pula, which encompasses a variety of programs including top-class concerts, theater and ballet. The summer event takes place between late June and August, and offers not only the opportunity to see national and international stars, but to also experience all this entertainment in a unique setting: the 2,000 year old Roman Colosseum that dominates the city of Pula with its massive architectural shape.

The Histria Festival's lineup has been characterized by first-class celebrities: Sir Elton John, Anastacia, Eros Ramazzotti, Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Norah Jones and Zucchero - just a few of the big names from the international music scene who excite their audiences in the unique setting of the Arena. One of the most impressive concerts was a performance from the tenor Pavarotti in 2004. A special treat because he had withdrawn from his active stage career only a few months earlier. From classic to contemporary music, from the Swan Dance to River Dance, from Faust to Aida: The Histria festival provides a wide range of different events so that it appeals to the taste of both Mozart lovers as well as jazz fans.

During the 6-week season, one to two concerts take place a week. Being a guest in Pula every year, a performance from the Imperial Russian Ballet is a regular event at the Histria Festival. Given the dense concentration of first-class international stars from the music, dance and theater business, it is recommended to book your tickets in advance. Depending on category and artist, the tickets can vary in price. Ticket prices for events happening at the Histria Festival usually start at around 20 euros.
