PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
The pretty holiday home for sole use is located on a hillside just 30m from the beach and about 20m above sea level. The house's own parking space is located above the house on a hillside directly on the gravel road from where a private path leads down a few steps about 50m across the entire property to the house. Towards the sea there is a beautiful shady terrace and a few steps down the large outdoor grill. From the terrace you can enjoy an incredible view down to the shimmering blue-green of the sea. A narrow path leads directly to the idyllic pebble beach 30m away.
From the terrace you can enter the house at ground level. There is a lounge with fireplace, kitchen with 2-burner stove and large refrigerator, 2 separate bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
The domestic water is collected rainwater. Solar power (220V), gas stove. There is no hot domestic water, the water is heated by solar energy. It is important to use water sparingly and to stock up on all the necessary foodstuffs, as the nearest shopping facility is 5 km away and can only be reached via a slow-moving gravel road.
The surroundings:
The wonderfully idyllic, deeply indented Orlandusa Bay lies in the southeast of the Dalmatian Adriatic island of Korcula and can only be reached via a 3 km long gravel road, the last section of which runs along the sea-facing mountain slope at a height of around 100 m above sea level and offers fantastic views of the islands of Vis and Lastovo, before finally ending as a dead end in a small paradise. The idyll can be seen from afar.
The bay, which opens to the southeast, is bordered by macchia-covered mountain slopes. The bay is adorned with a single pebble beach, only 60 m long and perhaps 20 m wide from mountain slope to mountain slope. The sea shimmers in every imaginable shade of green and blue, thanks to the rocky seabed. From the beach, a small plain opens up inland, which was once used intensively for agriculture and today still offers a few olive groves and vineyards, before turning into an even more impressive mountain slope after a few meters, partly rising in terraces.
In Orlando, in addition to the breathtaking nature, there are only a handful of small, mostly single-storey weekend houses, often made of natural stone, mostly in the small plain behind the beach. Only 2 houses crouch on the side slope that borders the bay. Another house is a little further inland, also on the slope. That pretty much describes the village.
According to the locals, even in the summer high season, no more than 20 people are on the beach. In June and September there are even fewer. There is neither a restaurant nor a cafe, no corner shop and no bakery. There is no real electricity or even a telephone connection. A generator generates 12V electricity here. If you don't want to go without small electrical devices such as mobile phones, laptops and the like, you should definitely not forget a suitable adapter. Anyone who goes on holiday here is on their own, as is easy to see. But sometimes the simple is the best. In the case of Orlandusa, this is definitely the case.
"Civilization" is not far away, however. There is a decent infrastructure in the village of "Zrnovo", which is 5 km away. There is even a good restaurant 3 km away. And the beautiful main town of the island, "Korcula", is just 7 km away.
The contrast between the sea and the vastness on the one hand and the sheltering Mediterranean mountain landscape on the other will enchant self-sufficient individualists and certainly provide a suitable setting for a paradisiacal family holiday in the "Robinson style".
