Brela

The town on the central Dalmatian coast after Makarska, where just 1,700 people live, is Brela- one of the most famous destinations of this Riviera. This has a lot to do with the famous Punta Rata - a beach that was chosen in 2004 by Forbes magazine as the most beautiful beach in Europe and the sixth most beautiful beach in the world. Here is also the "stone of Brela", a legendary rocky outcrop in the sea. The Punta Rata is, however, not the only memorable sight in Brela: Due to its location between the massive Biokovo mountains and the deep blue Adriatic Sea, Brela is itself embedded in a wonderful panorama. Vacationers can explore the region by hiking, mountain biking or climbing tours through the rugged, rocky landscape, or try their hand at water skiing, diving and sailing to discover the picturesque coast of Brela.

Cultural monuments such as the Church of Our Lady of Health or the houses of the Filipovic, some of the first inhabitants of the area, can be found throughout the local area. In some cases, such as with the small church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, the wonders of Brela are at the center of traditional festivals and events with music and dance. Interesting to see are the Fishermen Nights, Klapa Evenings and the Cultural Summer. Brela has a lot of gastronomic offers including several restaurants and pubs that gladly serve the tourists its local cuisine.
