Kaštel Gomilica
Under the supervision of the monastery in the 12th century, the Church of Sveti Kuzma i Damiana was built. It was built in the Romanesque style upon the foundations of an early Christian church. Sveti Kuzma i Damiana is considered one of the most important churches in the area. Growing in front of the church is a 700 year old oak tree. The 3,500 residents of Kastel Gomilica like to tell themselves that King Zvonimir once rested in the shade of this tree.
Kastel Gomilica has one of the few well-developed marinas in Kastela. The modern sailing boat harbor is located in a sheltered position between Mount Kozjak, the Split Peninsula of Marjan and the Island of Ciovo which is connected to Trogir. Boaters and sailors are drawn to the marina and, therefore, often and willingly make their way to the coast of Kastel Gomilica.
