Mlini
The idyllic town of Mlini in Župa dubrovačka is nestled between the cities of Dubrovnik and Cavtat. Its name, Mlini, means 'mills' and can be attributed to the many surrounding fresh water sources. The mountain streams flow directly through the town. In earlier times, hydro-power was used to operate many flour mills. Today, the mills no longer supply us with flour, but do provide us with a popular photo opportunity. Families with children will take pleasure in watching the numerous ducks in Mlini. Some even comfortably walk along the promenade in the neighboring villages of Srebreno and Kupari. Mlini has 2 beautiful pebbled beaches - with some boasting sandy soil, a warm subtropical climate with lush vegetation and a matching dreamlike mountain. To top it off, all of this is surrounded by fantastic island scenery which invites visitors to take both boat trips and hikes. It is only 11 kilometers away from Dubrovnik. Mlini is suitable for tourists who are interested in culture and architecture as well as for people who want to enjoy their beach vacation in peace.
The most popular day-excursion from Mlini is a trip to the enchanting old town of Dubrovnik. Cavtat is well worth a visit as well. Some tourists like to travel by boat to the islands in the area. In the National Park on the Island of Mljet, visitors will enjoy spending the whole day in a natural paradise. Many athletes like to make use of the water polo pitch at the Mlini Port. Afterwards, visitors can then treat themselves to a delicious ice cream at Café Gusar. The staff at the Mlinica and Marinero restaurants pamper their guests with delicious local specialties. Those night-owls looking for a party should head towards Dubrovnik.
