Molat

Molat is the capital of the island of the same name, located about 30km northwest of Zadar in the holiday region of North Dalmatia. The village is located in the southeastern region of the idyllic island enclosed by two bays: Lucina (ferry port) to the south and Jazi (sandy beach) to the north. The village of 106 inhabitants has developed around the harbor and has climbed up the small hill. The Church of Sveta Marija built in 1479 overlooks the town. It belongs to the architectural and historic features of the town.

Regular ferries operate from Molat to the nearby islands, such as Ist, and to Zadar on the mainland. The harbor situated in the Lucina Bay is well developed and even provides berths for larger boats and ships, which is simultaneously quite the attraction in this picturesque port. The idyllic resort is richly endowed with untouched nature, where you can enjoy long bike rides and hikes. At the same time, the ancient stone houses in the village will charm you. Here you will find a number of restaurants, small shops and a bar. Less rosy, but well worth seeing are the remains of a WWII concentration camp built by Italian fascists. A total of 20,000 people came through this camp.

There are many small hidden coves around Molat, some of them only being reachable on foot, by bike or boat and therefore rarely visited. On the other hand, they are perfect for a secluded and relaxing beach holiday.
