In regards to architectural charm, the light-colored stone houses that were built generations ago in Racisce, now mix with the modern holiday apartments. Racisce was founded in the 17th century by residents fleeing from the mainland to the island in order to find protection from the advancing Turks. The locals have subsisting from agriculture, fishing and seafaring for a long time now. In the 19th century Rascice developed into an important port city. To this day, many of the 470 residents are involved in the shipping industry.
To the east of the bay, you can visit the parish Church of St. Nicholas from the 19th century and the Church of the Holy Virgin with its beautiful loggia. They are among the most important churches in the town. Again and again, the cozy streets and squares with cafés and bistros lure the visitor to linger, leaving the tourist to enjoy the Mediterranean ambiance of Rascice to its fullest. The restaurants in this town serve regional specialties and local wines.
