Stomorska
The construction of sailing ships has had a long tradition in Stomorska because the ships once delivered the island products of wood, lime, almonds and other specialties to the mainland. The merchant ships were manufactured in a small yard, which was run by the Bucic Family from Hvar. The limestone was processed in the lime kiln before being transported to the mainland. On the west bank of Stomorska, you can still admire parts of the building dating back to 1916.
Those who want to experience more history and culture should join a tour of Stomorska at the Church of St. Nicholas. The sacred building has a small, threefold bell tower which was built in 1870. The old school building also dates back to this time, which is used today as a venue for various events and exhibitions.
