Rukavac
Nestled in the rolling hills on the southern coast of the Vis Island is the settlement of Rukavac with its few inhabitants. In the summer, the tranquil coastal village is a popular destination for families, seniors and all travelers looking for peace and relaxation – of this you can be certain to find in Rukavac. The former fishing village has become one of the most popular tourist areas on the Vis Island, mainly due to its beautiful beaches of Srebrna and Stiniva. From all the central Dalmatian islands, the Island of Vis lies the farthest from the Croatian mainland.
The town of Rukavac today is characterized by modern holiday apartments that lace the terraced slopes down towards the coast. Between the modern buildings, you can still find some old stone residential houses and abandoned ruins that nature has reclaimed. Some small restaurants provide tourists with regional dishes. In order to stock up on everything you need, a 10 km trip to the northern lying island capital of Vis is recommended. You will find everything that a vacationer's heart could desire there.
