Jadranovo

Jadranovo, the quiet coastal village in the Kvarner Bay only about 9 km north of Crikvenica and 24 km southeast of the great port city of Rijeka is a town that has been spared from mass tourism. Just off the coast of Jadranovo, the popular holiday island of Krk stretches itself out and dominates together with Cres Kvarner Bay. The quaint village of Jadranovo, which has about 1,200 inhabitants, is therefore, the ideal springboard for excursions to some of the most beautiful destinations in the Kvarner bay.

Like many other attractive seaside resorts in this region of Croatia, Jadranovo has numerous recreational opportunities, a large gastronomic diversity, as well as some cultural and historical highlights: for example, the church of Sveti Jakov, which marks the quiet community center. The now renovated church was first built in 1888 and has a magnificent view of the Krk Island. Archaeological discoveries in the lovely Bay of Lokvisce serve as evidence for a much earlier settlement in Jadranovo. Ancient amphora display and suggest how the fishermen and growers die their work and lived during the the 1st and 2nd centuries before Christ. Additionally, one also finds the famous healing mud in the bay, which has been used for centuries to relieve rheumatic grievances. Those looking to settle down in the evening in one of the bars or restaurants of the resort should try the tuna dishes: the inhabitants have been well-known for their fishing for decades.
