Holidays in Murter – Your Island in the Heart of Dalmatia

The small island of Murter, covering just under 17.5 km², is located in the northwestern part of the Šibenik archipelago. Despite its modest size, it boasts a coastline of more than 42 kilometers, featuring numerous secluded bathing bays, idyllic anchorages and several sandy beaches, such as the well-known Slanica Bay. Most beaches on Murter are rocky, although there are also a number of sandy coves. One of the island’s most remarkable features is its immediate proximity to the mainland, making a ferry crossing unnecessary. Murter is connected to the mainland via a free-to-use drawbridge in the town of Tisno, allowing visitors to reach the island quickly and comfortably. Each morning at 9:00 a.m. and again in the evening at 5:00 p.m., the bridge is closed to vehicle traffic for half an hour to allow larger boats and ships to pass through the narrow strait. Murter is also home to the administrative center of the neighboring Kornati National Park.
