Postira
While walking through Postira, one will inevitably stop and stand before the Lazaric Fort, whose Renaissance elements make it clearly stand out amongst the other stone houses. The gable of the house has religious inscriptions on it. You should also stop before the parish church that dates back to the 16th century. In 1873 it was renovated in the Baroque style, so that there are hardly any original components left to find. Above the town is the former monastery complex of Mirje, established during the early Christian times and was dedicated to Sveti Stjepan (Saint Stephen).
From a tourist standpoint, Postira is very versatile and has, along with a wide selection of gastronomy, different festivals and events in the summer that pull in locals and tourists alike from the road. Traditional celebrations include the "Postirsko ljeto" (the Summer of Postira). Religious events take place at this festival and, above all, many cultural events with traditional and musical performances.
