Riviera of Fazana – Holidays Between Sea, History and Cuisine
Fazana – more than just the gateway to Brijuni National Park
Located on the southwest coast of Istria, Fazana is not only the starting point for the legendary Brijuni National Park but also a place rich in history dating back to Roman times. The main town of the Riviera, the charming fishing village of Fazana, has officially dedicated itself to the sardine. For centuries, the silvery-blue-green fish has been caught here and celebrated in numerous restaurants, the Sardelle Fishing Academy, and the Sardelle Sculpture Park by the sea.
For lovers of authentic cuisine, this is a culinary paradise. Combined with locally produced indigenous wines and excellent olive oils, visitors can discover new ways to prepare and enjoy the small fish every day. Energized, you can explore picturesque Fazana or nearby Vodnjan with its stunning Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque buildings.
Beaches and coastline of the Riviera
Refreshment and relaxation are guaranteed at the Riviera’s fantastic beaches, such as Fazana’s pine-fringed North Beach, the South Beach along the Olive Avenue, or Camping Pineta Beach, offering breathtaking views of Fazana Bay and nearby islands. The quiet village of Peroj also charms visitors with its panoramic views, the only Orthodox church in Istria, and lovingly preserved Montenegrin traditions.
Small markets invite exploration, while local taverns and bars offer relaxing breaks during long coastal walks. Visitors can also start trips to Brijuni National Park from Peroj, avoiding potential queues in peak season. A day trip to the main island is always worthwhile to experience the Safari Park, vibrant underwater world, 18-hole golf course, and professional tennis courts.

Holiday Apartments and Vacation Homes in Fazana
The Riviera of Fazana combines coastline, Brijuni National Park and a wide range of holiday accommodations.
Take the time to cool down and relax at one of the fantastic beaches of the Riviera. The beach north of Fazana is framed by pines and to the south, the beach in Fazana with all its olive trees or the Camping Pineta beach with its wonderful view over the bay of Fazana and the offshore islands. Speaking of gorgeous, the tranquil town of Peroj has just that. The village, which has existed since Roman times, can easily be overseen, but deserves a second look: Here is the only Orthodox church in Istria and here the Montenegrin tradition has been well- maintained to this day. The small markets invite you to browse and the pubs and bars lure you in for a relaxing break during your long explorations along the coast.
By the way: Those wanting to visit the Brijuni Islands and the National Park of the same name, can also reach it from Peroj. Expect to have longer waiting times in the high season. At least a day trip to the legendary main island is, in any case, worthwhile- where else do you have the opportunity to experience the dream world of a former dictator up close and marvel at his bizarre ideas? How whimsical he was can be experienced in the Safari Park, where visitors ride through the park with an electric train. In addition, however, the island kingdom is enchanting with its colorful and species-rich underwater world and special features, including an 18-hole golf course and professional tennis courts. Do you feel like dwelling a little in this both man-made and nature created magic world? No problem, Tito's guest villas that once housed Hollywood stars and heads of state are now open as hotels and private accommodation for all affluent guests.
