Holiday Rentals in Riviera Poreč
Then turn back to the lively town of Porec and its surrounding areas for great sport and leisure activity opportunities. Many hiking and cycling trails lead more inland, to lesser known towns; through the rural countryside and by the mighty, fortified Funtana Castle at the "source of friendship". By the way: Ambitious cyclists will find not only gorgeous trails of varying difficulty, but also prestigious races such as the Trophy of Porec, The Istrian Spring and the Porec Bike Granfodo, which are held every year in March and April. It is also possible to reach the Baredine cave by bike, whose huge stalagmites and stalactites, halls, sculptures and galleries are just as fascinating as the underground lakes and endemic species. In summer, the cave has a welcoming, constant temperature of 14 ° C to cool off in.
Refreshing, the nearby town of Vrsar overwhelms its visitors by its spacious, naturally created worlds. The terraced fishing has been able to maintain its original charm with its wonderfully enchanting, snug little harbor and interweaving streets and alleys, as well as the view of the largely uninhabited, but stunningly beautiful archipelago sitting just at its front doorstep. By the way: Vrsar is also a perfect starting point for visiting the Lim channel (also: Lim Fjord or Lim Bay). The estuary that meanders through the more dense, green rock between Vrsar and Rovinj is well- known for its culinary specialties just as for its beauty. Food connoisseurs travel to Istria so they do not miss the delicious fish, mussel and oyster dishes. The meals are best enjoyed locally with a slightly chilled glass of wine and a view of the channel, from where time to time even peeping dolphin fins make an appearance.
