Svetvinčenat
The charming little village of Svetvincenat lies in the southern region of central Istria, between Pazin and Vodnjan. The surrounding landscape is dominated by sprawling vineyards and olive groves. The wine grapes growing here are of a very special quality, which guests are convinced of after visiting the wine festivals taking place here in late autumn every year. Local wine-makers present their young wines here first – a first class treat.
Svetvincenat has an exceptionally large amount of well-preserved medieval architecture, which is mainly used in the summer months as a backdrop for wonderful cultural events. Here exhibitions and concerts, plays and dance performances, and especially the festival of dance and the non-verbal theater have become traditional favorites.
Those writing about Svetvincenat should not forget about the exceptionally well-preserved castle, for which the small town is well-known. The medieval castle from the Morisin-Grimani family was completely renovated and now serves as a fascinating background for festivals and concerts taking place during the Istra Ethno Jazz Festival concerts.
