Murter Island

The small, almost 17.5 square kilometer big island of Murter is situated in the northwest part of the Sibenik Archipelago. Its coast, despite its small size extends 42 kilometers and has more than enough tranquil coves ideal for swimming, and docking boats, as well as beautiful beaches such as the Slanica Bay. The beaches in Murter are mainly rocky, but there are still a few sandy bays. The island's close proximity to the mainland is a special feature because you don't need a ferry to reach the mainland. That is, to get to the island, you can use the drawbridge in the town of Tisno to get to the mainland, which makes getting to the island especially easy and quick for visitors. The bridge is then lifted up for about half an hour to allow for ships and boats to make their way through the narrow sea passageway- always worth a look! Charming Beaches on Murter

On Murter you can find any type of beach you want from the lively, hopping beaches to the calm and lonely swimming coves. In Croatia, naked swimming and sunning has had a long tradition and Murter, therefore, attracts a number of naturalists making their way to its beaches. One of the most beautiful and visited beaches is the Slanica beach situated idyllically in a bay nestled amongst pine forests in the northwestern region of the island. Slanica beach falls gently into the seas and is, therefore, especially popular with those who can't swim and children. The Podvrske beach lies a bit further north and is just as beautiful with its sandy sea floor and the wonderful display of blue tones glistening off the Adriatic Sea. Podvrske is also a nude beach falling flatly into the sea and has a few places for small boats to dock. Podvrske is connected over a levee to the small island of Skojic.  The enchanting Cigrada Bay also makes for a very worthwhile visit and lies south of the Slanica Bay. In the Kosirina Bay, one can expect to be impressed by the overpowering view of the sea- as well as a well-facilitated camping site on one of the most beautiful places on the island.
