Vrsar
Vrsar is an enchanting little town that has managed to still maintain the original charm of a Mediterranean fishing village. The town is located on the picturesque Lim channel. From the harbor, the streets and buildings stretch out onto several levels, with the crowning glory lying 54 meters high. The gleaming white parish church of Sveti Martin (Saint Martin) towers over the city with its separately standing bell tower. In addition, Vrsar has other fascinating sights to offer, such as the sculpture park displaying works from the Croatian artist, Dusan Dzamonja, or the summer residence from the bishops of Porec. Directly offshore, there is a group of 18 thickly vegetated islands, that entice visitors to take hiking excursions. Even the beautiful Kontija Forest Reserve, located east of Vrsar, makes hiking and cycling in a unique natural landscape possible. Those visiting Vrsar, will certainly be struck by the numerous sculptures in the city and the surrounding areas. The coastal town is also known as the Croatian "town of sculptures". Every year here during the last week of September, the "International Summer School of Sculpture" takes place and many of these workshops are open to interested holiday guests.
