Riviera Split

The Split Riviera offers many picturesque places than just the city of Split- Stobrec or Podstrana, to name just two examples, which are both ideal destinations for a family vacation due to their long and continuous beaches. The climatic conditions are ideal for this purpose. Lots of sunshine and a mild climate provide excellent holiday conditions.

Particularly worth seeing is Split and its still very well-preserved Diocletian's Palace. Named after and built by the Emperor Diocletian, the palace is the most important monument of Roman culture architecture on the Adriatic coast. Diocletian's Palace was built in the years from about 295 to 305 AD. The beach Bacvice is the most popular sandy beach in the city. In summer this beach is very busy with locals and tourists. Besides bathing and swimming at the Bacvice beach, you can play Picigin, a local game of skill played with a small ball. A few kilometers away is Stobrec, a picturesque coastal town, which was originally a defense and border town between the Ottoman Empire and Venice. Another highlight is Solin. You can still see buildings such as the amphitheater (in Solin) which was of importance to the city. From Stobrec you can travel along the coast to Podstrana. Here the extensive pebble beaches are very alluring for swimming. The region just invites you to explore its cities and attractions, such as Trogir and the Cathedral of St. Lovre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The journey can be done via the Split airport and with your own car. The transportation network is very well developed and there is a direct connection to the motorway. From the Split airport it is possible to ride or travel from there directly to the towns of the Split Riviera with public transportation or a rental car.

The Split Riviera offers a lot more than just a holiday and sunbathing. One can find a wide range of sports facilities and stunning nature that magically lures visitors with its grottos, caves and canyons. And let's not forget that its unique fauna and flora also puts tourists under its spell. In addition, the region offers an abundance of year-round sun.
