Vodice

The picturesque town of Vodice is located about ten kilometers northwest of Sibenik. Vodice has about 9000 inhabitants, who subsist mainly from tourism. The town is located right on the Adriatic coast, in the province North Dalmatia and has been a real magnet for tourists. The place is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia.

Life in the small town pulsates on and around the mile-long promenade which surrounds the beautiful marina situated in the center. The lively promenade is characterized by a variety of shops, restaurants and cafés. Here you can take delight in the typical Dalmatian cuisine offered in the restaurants and hotels and the excellent wines from the region. Fresh fish and delicious seafood are without a doubt found on the restaurant menus here, and you will additionally find many places serving other foods, such as Italian cuisine. During a meal consisting of your selection of culinary delights, you can observe the wonderful view of the marina from one of many restaurant terraces. In the evening you can take romantic walks along the waterfrontalong the charming, romantic streets of the city, in addition to discovering the vibrant nightlife. Vodice has a number of well-known and popular clubs. The oldest, the Hacienda Club, is located north of Vodice. Beaches in and Around Vodice

In and around Vodice there are some very nice beaches which are usually pebbled and gently sloping towards the sea. For bathers, especially for families with children, the about half a kilometer long Plava Plaza city beach is particularly popular. Due to the parallel waterfront found here, there is a large selection of dining options, as well as a wide range of sports and leisure activities. The beaches in Vodice are generally well equipped, including, of course, snack bars, kiosks, changing rooms and showers. For those bathers seeking solitude, the best place is found by taking a boat to the outlying Prvic island. Here recreation seekers find the desired peace they wished for in secluded and hidden coves. These are, incidentally, also present on the Tijat and Logorun islands. In Vodice, although there is no official dog beach, our four-legged furry friends are generally tolerated on the unspoilt beaches on the outskirts.

Sights in Vodice

Vodice enthuses its guests with its romantic, typical Mediterranean charm. Contributing to the city's charm are, among other things, its wonderful architecture, the stone houses, winding streets and historical landmarks. In Vodice a visit to the parish Church of the Holy Cross is a must because it is one of the most important baroque monuments in Dalmatia. The church dates back to 1746 and impresses with its magnificent portal. Fully rebuilt - but nonetheless equally impressive - is the enchanting church Gospa od Karmela (Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel), which is located on the Okit hill. Hill and church are located behind the city. A hike up the hill is done easily, especially when using the maintained hiking trail. Additional points of interest are located in the old town, such as the tower of Coric and the archaeological site Velika Mrdakovica.

Vodice is the perfect springboard for taking wonderful trips to its neighboring towns, islands and national parks. These excursions can be done at your own accordunder the guidance of expert guides. Recommended for city sightseeing excursions are the cities of SibenikTrogir. Split (as a destination definitely worth a visit) should also be mentioned. Nature lovers should not miss the Krka National Park and the Kornati National Park.
