Nature park Telascica

At the southern tip, located off the Dalmatian coast island of Dugi Otok ("Long Island") is the almost 70.50 km2 large Telascica Nature Park. The park is about 10 kilometers long and up to about two miles wide, bordering the Kornati National Park. Telascica is famous for its fascinating landscape that is characterized by high, steep cliffs, dense pine forests and the typical Mediterranean vegetation. Among the trees growing here, you can find Aleppo pines, Dalmatian oaks, olives and grapes, and also more than 400 other very rare plant species. Also typical of the natural park are its rocky grass pastures, which provide a haven for wild donkeys, who feel  especially comfortable in the Bay "Mir". Even rare sea creatures can be found, such as red corals and sponges.


The Fascinating Telascica Nature Park

Telascica is one of the nicest and most protected natural harbors in the Adriatic. Another 25 small, also very protected bays are perfect areas for a swim or for anchoring. This attraction is not only for visitors, of the humankind, but also birds. Birds can be found nesting on the cliffs which reach up to 200 meters high and have steep cliffs sloping down to the south into the open sea. Birds nesting here include rare species such as the Gray Falcon or the enchanting Eleonora's Falcon. Another special feature is the scenic salt lake "Mir", a healing mud deposition where numerous eels feel at home. In addition, the lake is very popular for water sports because the water is saltier and warmer here in summer than the sea water. Telascica's landscape is predominantly barren in the northwest, but is thick with overgrown in the southwest. The interior islands are even forested. Leisure Activities

In the Telascica Nature Park, visitors can see, while walking or riding a bike, picture perfect, first-class landscape motifs. Furthermore, the fishing here is very good and the island is even good for water sports such as diving or sailing. The restaurants located in the park offer culinary delights such as traditional fish dishes and local, high-quality wine. Visitors can quite easily reach the city by ferry from Zadar to Telascica Nature Park, as well as from Biograd. The trip takes about 1.5 hours. The Telascica Nature Park is open all year round and can be visited individually or with a guided tour. A fishing license costs at least 100 Kuna per day.
