Rab, the green, forested Croatian gem in the Adriatic, likely gets its name from the Illyrian word "Arb," meaning "green forested." Nearly half of the island is covered in woods. Rab is 22 km long, covers 91 km², and has around 9,500 residents. The highest peak is Kamenjak at 408 meters. The Lopar and Kalifront peninsulas are particularly scenic, with one of the last Mediterranean oak groves – perfect for family hikes.

Cultural highlights include the Rabska Fjera medieval festival honoring Saint Christopher. Historical sites and museums can also be visited on day trips to Rijeka or Goli Otok.

Getting There

Rab is accessible by multiple routes. The most common is the Stinica–Misnjak car ferry (approx. 18 minutes) operated by Rapska plovidba. The motorboat Maslina connects Rab with Pag, and the taxi boat operates several times a week. Lopar is connected to Valbiska on Krk via the LNP passenger ferry (approx. 90 minutes). Additionally, a car ferry (line 338) runs multiple times daily from May to September, and a Jadrolinija catamaran connects Rab directly to Rijeka (approx. 1 hr 45 min), ideal for guests without a car.
